Dr. Alex Nebelle

Veterinarian

DVM

Hi, I'm Dr. Alex Nebelle. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020. Following that, I attended veterinary school at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) in June 2024. My connection with Orchard Road Animal Hospital began in July 2022, when I started working as an intern and veterinary technician. Since then, I regularly returned to Orchard Road during school breaks to continue my training and experience in veterinary care before joining the team fulltime in August 2024.

I am a proud member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK), which allows me to practice veterinary medicine in the United Kingdom.

Why I Chose This Profession

Ever since I was young, I have been fascinated by science and how it allows us to understand the world around us. The more I learned about biology and the human body in school, the more amazed I became by the intricacy and precision of living systems. At the same time, I have always had a deep connection with animals. I felt that animals understood me in ways humans couldn’t, which inspired me to become their advocate. I chose veterinary medicine because it combines my love for science with my passion for helping animals live happy, healthy lives.

Favorite Part of My Job

During my veterinary training, I developed a deep interest in surgery. When I’m performing a surgical procedure, I’m completely immersed in the moment, focused entirely on helping my patient. In the future, I hope to expand my surgical skills by learning procedures like nasal wedge resection, which can improve breathing for brachycephalic breeds such as pugs and French bulldogs. I’m also fascinated by ultrasound imaging and how it allows us to explore the inner workings of our patients in a non-invasive way, offering valuable insights and peace of mind for pet owners.

The most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing a patient recover from an illness or injury and return to their normal, vibrant self. There’s nothing more satisfying than witnessing the transformation in their behavior and knowing I played a role in their recovery.

Personal Hobbies & Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy expressing my creativity through painting with acrylics, playing guitar, writing music, and singing. I’m also an avid reader of science fiction and romance novels. When I’m not creating or reading, I love to travel, journal, and spend time in the kitchen making soups and baking desserts. My pets — two dogs, Holly and Daisy, and two cats, Patches and Bandit — are constant companions in my free time.
